Discover Zagreb as an important fashion city from 60’s onwards.

History of trade fairs in Zagreb dates to 1242 when the Hungarian king Bela IV issued a Golden Bull declaring Zagreb a free royal city and granting it the right to hold fairs. The first international exhibition in Zagreb was held in 1864. Zagreb Assembly the predecessor to Zagreb Fair, was founded by a group of Croatian businessmen and was one of the co-founding institutions of The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry in 1925. The Zagreb Fair was also the first fair held in post-World War II Yugoslavia in 1947. Textile industry was always a significant part of exhibiting. Further, fashion expansion happened in 1960’s, period of significant changes, including industrialisation, technical development as well as economic prosperity. Influence and prosperity had great impact in daily living as well as development of fashion industry. Zagreb as capital of Croatia became leading industrial centre of former Yugoslavia thus not only clothing industry grew but as well small manufacturers find its way to the wider audience. On this tour we would like to introduce some of the most important manufacturers in Zagreb where you will have an opportunity to explore city centre with Ethnographic museum and numerous unique clothing and fashion brands.
