Zagreb, capital and the largest city of Croatia. It has a very rich history dating from Roman times till today. In the first recorded appearance of the name of Zagreb dated from 1094, city was divided in two centres, eastern Kaptol and western Gradec. Kaptol was inhabited by clergy and still is today. Gradec was a home of many craftsman and merchants. These two centres were united back in 1851 by Ban Josip Jelačić whose statue is symbol of city main square.
