The program “Royal Flavours and Legends of the Dalmatian Hinterland” takes you on an eight‑day journey through the heart of inland Dalmatia — where history intertwines with nature, and tradition meets exceptional gastronomy.

Itinerary
Day 1. – ARRIVAL IN SINJ | WELCOME TO THE LAND OF CROATIAN KINGS
Arrival of participants in Sinj and check‑in at an authentic rural hotel or a traditional stone house designed in accordance with local heritage. After a warm welcome from the hosts, guests are introduced to the travel program, the principles of sustainable tourism, and the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Dalmatian Hinterland.
In the afternoon, an interpretive walking tour of Sinj is organized, introducing participants to the town known for the Sinjska Alka, the Franciscan monastery, and centuries‑old traditions of the Cetina region. The evening continues with a tasting of local products from family farms — Dalmatian prosciutto, cheeses, homemade bread, extra virgin olive oil, and wines from indigenous varieties, accompanied by storytelling about Croatian kings, noble families, and legends that shaped the history of this region.
Day 2. OMIŠ AND THE CETINA RIVER | ADVENTURE IN UNTOUCHED NATURE
After breakfast, departure to Omiš, a unique town nestled between mountains and the sea at the mouth of the Cetina River. The day is dedicated to outdoor activities, with the option to join a zipline adventure above the Cetina canyon or a guided kayaking tour through the protected river landscape.
Following the activities, a traditional lunch featuring dishes of the Cetina region is served. In the afternoon, an interpretive tour of Omiš’s old town is followed by a hike to Fortica Fortress, offering panoramic views of the river, sea, and surrounding mountains. Through engaging stories, participants learn about the history of Omiš pirates, trade routes, and life on the border between land and sea.
Return to Sinj and dinner prepared with local seasonal ingredients.
Day 3. KLIS AND SALONA | IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF CROATIAN KINGS AND ROMANS
The day begins with a visit to the impressive Klis Fortress, one of Croatia’s most significant historical and defensive sites. Expert interpretation introduces participants to the era of early Croatian rulers, medieval battles, and legends that shaped this region for centuries.
The program continues with a tour of ancient Salona, once the capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia. Exploring the remains of the amphitheatre, basilicas, baths, and city walls, participants learn about the richness of Roman heritage and the importance of its preservation. After the tour, a creative workshop on making ancient mosaics inspired by Salonitan motifs is organized.
The evening concludes with a traditional dinner featuring dishes prepared under the peka and local wines.
Day 4. THE CETINA REGION | FLAVOURS OF THE DALMATIAN HINTERLAND
This day is dedicated to authentic gastronomy and sustainable agriculture. A visit to a family‑run farm offers insight into traditional production of olive oil, wine, honey, and homemade brandies, as well as the importance of short supply chains and local food production.
Participants take part in a hands‑on workshop preparing soparnik, bread baked under the peka, and other traditional dishes of the Dalmatian Hinterland, followed by a communal lunch. Hosts present local customs, rural lifestyle, and the values of communities that have preserved tradition for generations.
In the afternoon, departure to Imotski and check‑in at an authentic rural accommodation.
Day 5. THE IMOTSKI REGION | NATURAL WONDERS AND RURAL HERITAGE
After breakfast, a guided visit to the Blue and Red Lakes is organized — unique karst phenomena that define the Imotski landscape. Through expert interpretation, participants learn about geological processes, natural features, and the legends surrounding these protected sites.
The program continues with a visit to a traditional rural estate, where hosts present local architecture, old customs, and sustainable agricultural practices typical of the region. After tasting homemade products and wines, participants have free time to explore the old town of Imotski.
Dinner is served at a local household, featuring seasonal ingredients and traditional recipes.
Day 6. WINE ROADS OF THE IMOTSKI REGION | TASTES OF THE TERROIR
This day is dedicated to wine and gastronomy, highlighting local producers. Participants visit boutique wineries, learn about indigenous grape varieties, and explore wine production rooted in tradition and modern sustainable practices.
During guided wine tastings, local cheeses, prosciutto, honey, olive oil, and other products from family farms are presented. In the afternoon, a workshop on traditional crafts introduces participants to old techniques of handmade decorative and functional items, emphasizing the importance of preserving intangible cultural heritage.
The evening is reserved for relaxation in a rural setting and socializing with local hosts.
Day 7. DALMATIAN HINTERLAND | ROYAL LEGENDS AND A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
The final full day combines natural heritage, history, and community. A storytelling tour leads participants through tales of Croatian kings, medieval fortresses, folk legends, and key historical events that shaped the identity of the Dalmatian Hinterland.
This is followed by a visit to an ecological family farm that practices sustainable agriculture, preserves traditional varieties, and promotes responsible use of natural resources. Participants learn about local value chains, short supply routes, and the development of sustainable rural tourism.
The program concludes with a festive farewell dinner featuring traditional dishes, local wines, and a cultural performance showcasing the rich heritage of the Dalmatian Hinterland.
Day 8. IMOTSKI | END OF THE PROGRAM
After breakfast, a visit to the local market or family farms is organized, where participants can purchase authentic products such as wine, olive oil, honey, cheeses, homemade brandies, and traditional souvenirs — supporting local producers and the regional economy.
A final gathering with hosts includes sharing impressions and reflecting on the experiences gained throughout the program, with an emphasis on preserving cultural and natural heritage and fostering sustainable rural tourism. Departure of participants and end of the program.
