New EU Travel Rules Starting Next Summer: What Travelers Need to Know
22.08.2024.Travelers from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, and other non-EU countries, including those planning to visit Croatia, will soon need to prepare for a small but important change. The European Union is set to introduce a new travel system called ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) in 2025. This system will affect anyone from outside the EU who wants to explore the beauty of EU destinations, including the stunning landscapes of Croatia, Slovenia, and beyond.
Starting next summer, travelers from third countries will be required to pay a modest fee of 7 euros to enter the Schengen Area, which includes 27 EU countries as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland. This new system is designed to enhance security while making the travel process smoother and more efficient.
How the ETIAS System Will Affect Your Travel Plans
Once approved, your ETIAS authorization will be valid for three years, or until your passport expires. This means that for just 7 euros, you’ll have three years of seamless travel across some of the most beautiful and culturally rich destinations in Europe.
The application process will be straightforward and, in most cases, approvals are expected to be given within minutes. However, it’s always wise to apply a few days before your trip, just in case. The system will ask for some basic biometric information, such as fingerprints and a facial scan, to help ensure that your journey is secure.
If you’re under 18 or over 70, there’s more good news: you won’t need to pay the fee. Plus, if you’re traveling to non-Schengen countries like Ireland or Cyprus, ETIAS won’t be necessary at all.
At Perfecta Travel, we’re here to help you navigate these changes and ensure your travels are as smooth as possible. So, as you dream about your next adventure rest assured that we’ve got all the details covered.
Here’s to safe and happy travels!
